And just like that, 2023 is almost over and we make way for 2024. Let’s make the start to the new year better than ever, beat those January blues with plenty to keep you busy and your diaries full!

What’s on throughout January
1st January – St Margaret’s Hospice New Year’s Day Charity Dip
Start 2024 off in the best way possible and join St Margaret’s Hospice for their New Year’s Day beach dip, and why not dust off your favourite dressing up outfit to!
Throughout January until 28th – Somerset Printmakers
Head along to The Whittox Gallery throughout January to witness the lovely Somerset Printmakers exhibition. Featuring 12 printmakers and their beautiful works.
10th January – Frome Collectors and Flea Market
Quality second hand goods including a selection of antiques and collectables as well as a mixture of bric-a-brac and jewellery with even the chance of some hidden treasure.
13th January – Frome Farmers’ Market
A very well established range of farmers and food producers with a huge range of vegetables, meats, cheeses and bread as well as many new innovative food businesses. There is a huge variety of stalls with outstanding local produce and a friendly café on site for refreshments and live music.19th January – The Vaults Folk and Roots Open Mic
This is a fully acoustic open mic night – the venue has wonderful acoustics so brilliant for this gig. Welcoming singers and musicians and an audience too! If you would like to sing or play, go early as it will be a on a first come basis.
24th January – Rusalka
Head to the Merlin Theatre this January for a brilliant programme of performances, films and more. They stream many performances from top venues such as The Royal Opera House, like Rusalka, a poetic yet contemporary staging of Dvořák’s lyric fairy tale, revealing our uneasy relationship with the natural world and humanity’s attempts to own and tame it.
Beginning 27th January – Present Tense
Hauser and Wirth bring us another spectacular exhibition, this time one that will spotlight the next generation of artists living and working in the UK, from emerging to mid-career, celebrating a breadth of creative talent and socially engaged practices.
Don’t forget about the Frome Weekly Market every Wednesday and Saturday, 9am-3pm, in the Cattle Market Car Park and at Boyle Cross. Offering fresh goods, cut flowers, crafts, jewellery, home furnishings, vintage finds and more.
